Cooper arrives in San Francisco on May 26th, 1855, explores the City, and establishes
the infirmary and clinic that he advertises. He also advertises a course of
Anatomical and Surgical Lectures and quickly gains a reputation for being a
brilliant surgeon. Some local doctors resent this.
